Eye (Coffee) Candy

And now for your viewing pleasure.....
Some virtual café....*
...courtesy of Cassoulet Café. Enjoy!

In French, souvenir means "memory".
I became crazy about collecting the paper-wrapped sugars because not only are they mignon (cute) but each one represents a precious memory or our past.
Look closely and you'll see that not only do you get all sorts of sugars, but you might even get a tiny wrapped morsel of chocolat...

These are the little things that make France feel just parfait.
(perfect!)

*Merci, La Bellette Rouge, for the "virtual coffee" idea the other day. :)

Thanks for letting me know "Poulain 1848" is worth investing in! I flirted with it this trip, since I started out with their brand of chocolat chaud to begin with..
Next time..next time "Poulain 1848" it is!

Bonjour, CC
If you could just add a little cream to that coffee; there seems to be plenty of sugar :) Enjoying my virtual cup with you CC!
Merci,
LBR

If you like dark chocolate, and chocolat chaud, then yes the Poulain 1848 is where it's at, without breaking the bank. Delicieux!
Incidentally, when we lived there I bought the most fabulous stuff...I think it was called Poulain Coupeaux...it was a box of large, thin, sort of shavings, to make hot chocolate. It was to die for! Guess what? It's like it never even existed. Cannot find it there, nor online, asking everyone French I know...it's like I dreamed it...But I kept the empty box as proof for a few years.

I don't even drink coffee and it still looks delicious.

WENDYB,
Thanks for stopping by! Do you drink chocolat chaud? I think I know what my next post is going to be about, with all this hot chocolate talk...
:)

Bring on the Hot Chocolate..I dont dislike winter so much if I get my share of it. ;-)

Okay, you all are really making me want some chocolate chaud. Laduree or Angelina style, SVP...since Poulain is proving elusive.

Bonjour, CC! Merci for the photographs! We have something else in common -- I collect matchbooks and interesting sugar packets from my travels as well! I was rummaging through my stack just the other day and came across a couple from the historic Manila Hotel that I picked it up in 1985. It's never been opened, of course, but I could feel that the sugar had hardened into a flat lump inside. ;-)

How fitting that I'm reading this while sipping a mug (!) of cafe au lait at my local coffee house.

Salut,
Marjorie

LBR,
The Poulain 1848 or Grand Arome is readily available, however it was the copeaux that was discontinued.
INNER FRENCH GIRL--you made my day when you posted that you were drinking your coffee and reading Cassoulet Cafe :)
