Quick In-N-Out Burger

On our vacation last week, we had to hit the In-N-Out Burger as many times as possible to get our fix. It's been 9 months since I had one. For the non-Californians out there, this is only the best burger joint....um...ever! Never frozen meat, no gristle, fresh ingredients and only burgers, shakes and fries on the menu. There is even a secret menu that is no longer a secret, since it's now posted on their website. But if you don't know the not-so-secret lingo, you'll never be able to order a burger Animal Style, or a 4x4 burger or a have a Neopolitan. No matter, any burger you order will be delish and you'll be addicted like me and wonder why this wonderful chain hasn't spread into my neck of the woods yet.

Because I couldn't eat at In-N-Out for every meal, I made it my mission to view the drive-up line at every In-N-Out Burger we passed on our trip. Because I have never seen one that didn't have a line of cars out into the street. It's that good.

On the other side of the world, to where I will be going in a couple months, there is a place that looks similar to an In-N-Out, but is the worst burger joint...um...ever! Quick. Or "qweek" as the Frenchies say. My experience at Quick has never been good, and the photos of the burgers on their website is proof that I speak truth.
What is up with their burger names? Xtralong Giant? I don't want to eat a burger that is described as Extra Long, because long should not EVEN be a consideration when ordering a burger. There is also a Long Fish, Long Bacon and Long Chicken. I prefer In-N-Out's description, burgers that are "stacked high on a freshly baked bun". Doesn't that sound nicer and more appetizing?

Though, as much as I love In-N-Out, I won't be trying the 100x100 burger. And you definitely won't be getting any blog posts from Quick on our upcoming trip to France. Unless I decide to do a shock and awe post. Nahhhh....

Oh, I absolutely love IN-N-Out, too!! When I lived in San Diego, I felt so spoiled. It has been too long since my last taste of their delicious burgers! So sad but I'm happy you were able to enjoy it while visiting California.

Haha. I was laughing at the many uses of "long" at Quick. I've never eaten there but yes, "long" is definitely not a word I prefer to associate with a burger or most food, frankly!

Quick is utterly disqusting. What makes me laugh is how most of my French friends are convinced that it is AMerican.

B,
Hey, I'm from San Diego too :) All our family is still down there.

Yes, the "long" is just very unappealing but it does match the taste of their food..unappealing! I was trying to think what use of "long" for a food item would be ok in English, and I can't come up with anything. Hmmm...maybe for licorice? Would Long Licorice be a selling point? Or, long asparagus? :) Certainly should never be used to describe meat.

Sassy- You are so right! So many times I had French friends refer to Quick as being American, and I'm like, "Uh, noooooo it's not!" (Can you see my head shifting from side to side? haha!)

LBR-Don't worry, as I remembered you love In n Out, I ate one for you! I also had a shake for you, and 2 orders of fries. ALL FOR YOU! So I didn't get any of those calories.
:)

We occasionally eat at Quick when we're on the road and are almost always disappointed. Of course we generally avoid "le fast food" but when travelling, it does work out sometimes...

I'm homesick! I'm homesick! I'm homesick!!! In-n-Out is the epitome of hamburgers and fries!

As for Quick...I saw that on our drive through France, but we didn't stop...and now I am glad for it :)

Sadly, I have never been to an In/Out. Passed by them, yes. Now I want to go to see what all the hub-bub is about.

Please, please, please find a way to have In-N-Out open a store on the Cote d'Azur. That and a Starbuck would equal heave!

Betty,
I'm glad you validated my opinion about Quick, merci! ;)

Cowgirl,
I love their fries extra done...yum! Glad you didn't stop at Quick.

French for a while: I'm sooooo sorry, but I first have to convince In-N-Out to come HERE where I live :)
Then if that succeeds, I promise to try to get them to go your way. LOL!
As for Starbucks, we have them here, but we roast our own coffee and it's way better. Maybe you could try it? You wouldn't regret it! Or I could get a business goingselling my coffee on my blog....:)
(First I owe LBR some, though...I haven't forgotten you, LBR! I just have been lazy about roasting.)

As a traditional French girl, I hate Quick and Mc Do!

Excellent point. When is "long" a good description for food? Maybe a long hot dog but that just sounds profane! :)

Bonjour, CC! I have NEVER had the privilege of eating at an In-N-Out, although I came close once! I saw the billboard in Phoenix advertising it!

Except I was on my way to the Mayo Clinic's ER and couldn't make the stop. By the time I was released four hours later, the place was closed. DAMMIT! My one chance!

I look forward to having a taste one day. I swear, before I die.

Salut,
Marjorie
